Inside the New York Times

Coming across videos like this is such a treat for me! I would pay good money to spend the day sifting through the newspaper’s old print archives, a department that used to be the heart of most publications but today is jokingly referred to “the morgue”. What a vault of nostalgic treasures this place must be!

  1. How could anyone think of getting rid of The Morgue? On the other hand imagine the cost and difficulties involved in digitising it. If the problem is the cost of space in Manhattan, why not relocate it, or, if “younger journalists” stop using it, donate it (with conditions?) to a museum, rather than auctioning off the juicy bits? I’m sure there would be many volunteers to look after it!
