Mind the closing doors please… at the start of the holiday season in NYC, nostalgic souls and tired shoppers are in for a treat. At the end of every year for a few weeks, the people who run the subway roll out its vintage subway trains.
Starting early December and running for the following three Sundays, New Yorkers can hitch a ride for the price of a Metro card swipe (that’s an Oyster card to us lot across the pond) on the ‘Nostalgia Train’, consisting of eight vintage cars from the 1930s to the 1970s. Vintage buses from the 1940s to the 1980s were also running around town. *Dress code: 20s, 30s, 40s (optional).
