A Secret Garden in Tribeca

I’ve walked along Hudson Street back to my hotel countless times, but the last time I did it, I happened to come across an amazing hidden garden I didn’t know was there. Follow the street north from Tribeca until you reach Barrow Street, just past Golden Rule Wine and Spirits.

Cross over Barrow Street and you’ll come to a little entrance gap in a red brick wall opposite the Hudson Diner. It doesn’t look like much, but when you go inside…

… ta da! You’ll find yourself inside a beautiful and serene hidden garden filled with flowers – and home to 100 different bird species as well as 24 types of butterflies. Who knew?! It feels like you’re in the middle of a city woodland. It belongs to the church next-door called St Luke in the Fields and is open from 8 each morning.

Isn’t it amazing what you find tucked away out of sight in NYC? I certainly didn’t know of the existence of the gardens at St Lukes, but will certainly go out of my way to find this oasis of calm on my next trip to town.
