Bergdorf goodman holiday windows

Nothing says ‘Happy Holidays!’ more than the Bergdorf Goodman department store’s spectacular Christmas window displays, which take a jaw dropping 11 months to make from start to finish. Curious how they do it, and not able to make it to NYC this Christmas for a peek, I was sooooo excited to discover this brilliant little video on the New York Magazine website, in which Bergdorf’s chief window dresser, David Hoey, takes us behind the scenes to show us how they’re made…

I love how David describes the result as “extreme window display”. He says: “We’re looking to create a deliberately overwhelming experience to induce aesthetic delirium… We like to think we’re an arm of showbusiness. We’re impresarios entertaining everybody on the streets and online.” You can see more of the windows here if you’d like.
